People say it came out of nowhere. In many places, there were no warnings, either official or from nature.

Some people, seeing the beginning of the start of the stream, ran about trying to gather up items they might want to save or even take with them.

But the situation escalated so quickly and with such force that many were left with two options: flee or seek refuge on the second floor.

But in truth, there was actually not enough time to really debate options. It just was.

Heavy rainfall fell across parts of Germany continued into Wednesday, causing flooding and damage to buildings and other property. The states of Saxony, Thuringia, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and the southern state of Bavaria were hardest hit by the extreme weather. Extreme weather causes widespread disruption In the town of Jöhstadt, in Saxony, emergency services were searching for a man who was swept away in a flash flood. In the Bavarian city of Hof, around 1,000 firefighters and 140 rescue workers were deployed to incidents caused by flooding. A strong and “almost stationary” storm system over Belgium brought inches of rain to the province of Liege on Wednesday, July 14, footage shows. The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (IRM) issued a rain warning for eastern Belgium through Thursday, saying that parts of the country could receive up to 150 mm (6 inches) of rain. Part of the province of Liege was expected to receive at least 100 mm (4 inches) of rain in 24 hours.
