‘Pop, afrobeat, musical, alternative rock, psychedelic funk, trip hop… Dirty boy, icon, fairy godmother, passer-by… On the front of the stage, hidden behind cartoon characters, surrounded by other high-flying musicians… In his thirty-year career Damon Albarn has juggled styles, projects and labels. Always surprising, this is what has made the success of the Briton.
‘In the spring of 2014, Damon Albarn released his first “personal record” (in his own words): Everyday Robots. It was the first time the mastermind behind Blur, Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad & The Queen and Rocket Juice & The Moon had been seen solo.
‘At the ARTE Concert Festival, Damon Albarn performs live a new stage of this solo adventure: The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows, a declaration of love to Iceland. Flanked by several musicians, the Briton makes our eyes shine with a poetic and orchestral concert.’
Concert filmed on 5 November 2021 at the Gaîté Lyrique, Paris
In partnership with France Inter, Les Inrockuptibles, and Libération
